Solar in Shiloh

On December 7 and 8 Green Brothers Solar, in conjunction with Green Opportunities and Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College, installed a solar thermal system in the South Asheville community of Shiloh. All parties collaborated to create an opportunity for one Shiloh family to own a fully installed solar thermal system. In the process 15 Green Opportunity youth (including four women) are being trained in all aspects of the solar thermal trade.

A-B Tech is providing classroom space and access for a solar thermal workstation. Green Brothers Solar is providing instruction and installation training and Green Opportunities is providing the pre-approved youth with very basic skills.

One of the graduates of a previous collaboration is working for one of the premier solar companies in our area. “Having students get out there and actually get jobs in the field is very gratifying,” says owner Accem Scott.

MOUNTAIN GREEN- Sustainable Communities Conference

Green Brothers Solar was an exhibitor at this small yet powerful gathering.

This conference was held at Warren Wilson College.

The focus was on:

Best practices in sustainable and green construction, real estate, development, planning, and design.

Green Brothers Solar made some great connections and best of all we did a great radio interview with Ned Doyle founder of the Southeast Energy Expo. At the end of the interview we were asked to speak at the coming Expo in August. (http://www.seeexpo.com/)
